Lyca Kyrack

When our society was still young, and we had many of the problems that threatened to destroy us, as, I'm sure, you have problems that you fear will destroy you, a woman was born who changed everything about us. Through her inspiration, charisma and eloquence, the paradigm of an entire people was turned one hundred and eighty degrees. her leadership ended strife, opened our minds, and brought us closer to our Goddess.

Before Kyrack, as far back as history can remember, our people were monogamous and patriarchal. We were also very passionate and warlike. Eventually, evolution took a peculiar turn; for one reason or another our society became predominantly male. Scientists, in retrospect, theorize that this might have had something to do with the practice of killing female newborns so that the women might become pregnant again, hopefully with a more desirable, male child, so that fathers who had more efficient Y carrying sperm had more male, therefore surviving offspring in general. This resulted in fierce competition over women. The bloodshed was almost constant.

That Kyrack, a woman in these primitive times, actually gained respects seems an incredible feat in and of itself. Less so if you consider that her earthy sense of humor and audacious nature won the hearts of many men, and her practical wisdom in solving a good many small disputes won their respect. She coaxed those men into the first harems with the following analogy:

"Consider the cows. There are thousands of cows in this land, all of whom need milking, but you never see them fighting over who gets to be milked because the milkmaid milks all of them. One milkmaid can milk her twenty cows, and none must go around being uncomfortable because of the load they are carrying. I submit to you that it is better for twenty of you to share a woman, than for nineteen of you to have no woman at all."

This seemed a good solution to the nineteen men with black eyes and broken teeth from fighting over sex. The five percent, who were the dominant males, were outnumbered. Harems significantly reduced the number of disputes over mating.

When she was around 20, Kyrack was inspired. The Goddess spoke to her. It was then that she became a prophet. Many chose to follow her. Among them were Ryan of Benneth, Mericia Aracata, Byanna of Skelts, Ericka Sachae, and Kyrack's sister, Aelena.

Their ethic of complete honesty, even in owning up to mistakes and ignorance, and trusting, even strangers, and especially preaching the importance of "trusting your enemy" bought them the mocking title "the fools of Kyrack.". She publicly replied thusly:

"If it is foolish to trust, and honor the truth, then, by all means, fellows, let us be called fools! For, I'll tell you, I have never met a so called 'fool', with a heavy conscience, and the heavens being like water, a heavy conscience is an
anchor to the mud and silt."
