Questions Frequently Asked of The SehRasheme

Q: Are you pagans/devil-worshipers?
A: I suppose that depends on who you ask. There are some who would define any religion not having its origins in that small part of your planet that you refer to as "the middle east" as pagan, while others require that the religion be polytheistic, which we are not. As for being devil-worshipers, that also seems to be a catch-all used for anyone who is not Muslim/Jewish/Christian. We worship only our Goddess. The Christian dark deity known as the devil is of no interest to us. We don't understand why Christians worship it, or if they don't worship it, why they talk about it so much. If you could direct us to someone who could explain this human religious phenomenon, we would be very interested.

Q: Are the forbearers, like, those big headed aliens on Startrek?
A: No.

Q: Is Lyca Kyrack regarded in your religion the way Jesus is in Christianity?
A: No. Lyca Kyrack was a philosopher, inarguably the greatest philosopher and teacher our people has ever had. Her faith and close relationship with Our Mother allowed her to perform great miracles and acts of magick. She was a good, moral, and honorable woman. She was still just a woman.

Q: If your society is so old, why is it still so sexist?
A: Old habits die hard, particularly in a society where the people are so long-lived as we are. Men are very, very slowly, but nonetheless, surely, gaining their equality. One large obstacle to this is that our economy is very much dependant on women with large harems putting their men to work planting, tending, and harvesting crops. Another problem is that there are roughly twenty men to every woman, and if we immediatly legislated equality between the sexes, there would be terrible amounts of uproar in terms of marital issues. It also does not help that a large harem is a financial investment, and if the Rashem signed the papers to emancipate the male sex, she would be very badly hurt, financialy speaking. Lastly, a great part of Kyrack's teachings revolved around pascifism, and it is only through thousands of years of cultural oppression that we have tamed the men into the lovely, even tempered, docile creatures that they now are. You all know from your own experience what men do if they are not dominated by women. They go into bars and punch each other for fun. They fly into fits of rage, and when given power, use it to intimidate people. Their competitive natures would tear our harmonious society apart if they ever came into political power. Of course, this is just my opinion, as a member of one of the more conservative branches of the SehRasheme. Forgive me; as I said, old habits die hard. :)
